Captain Don Archer

Owner and Captain Don Archer is the skipper of Fin Alley and your guide to some of the best deep sea fishing on the East Coast.

Don’s father began taking him fishing in the waters off Long Island at an early age, so he has a lifetime of experience fishing these waters.  Don has developed a reputation as one of the best offshore captains in Hampton Bays, and even with 40 years of experience he continues to build on it each season. 

Captain Don is relentless in his pursuit of big game, and he is a perfectionist when it comes to preparation, maintenance, and putting his guests in the best possible position to catch the fish they’ve been dreaming of.  He will always go the extra mile (literally) and will not hesitate to change tactics or try new locations if Plan A doesn’t go as expected. 

Captain Don makes sure that all of the gear on the boat is in top-notch condition prior to each trip, so you’ve never going to find rusty hooks or a reel without fresh topshot. He has also spared no expense, including outfitting Fin Alley with clean-running Caterpillar motors and advanced safety equipment such as hydrostatic released liferaft. 

First Mate John MacGregor

John has been fishing with Captain Don for more than 15 years, so they make a great team in the wide open sport of offshore big game fishing.

John is a fun guy to be around and is always happy to help a guest with anything they need, but make no mistake - he is a hard working, fishing machine.

If you're lucky enough to bring some fresh tuna back to the dock, John will meticulously clean and bag your tuna so well it will make a sushi chef blush.
